The Price

by Arthur Miller
directed by Joy Carlin
September 2, 2005 - October 9, 2005
As Aurora Theatre Company is dedicating this season to the memory of Arthur Miller, it is only fitting to open the season with one of Miller’s last great critical and popular successes, The Price. Written in 1967 in response to what he believed was an unfolding disaster in Vietnam, Miller created The Price to examine the ways people pay for their mistakes. In the play, a formerly wealthy family, destroyed by the Great Depression, has now been reduced to two estranged brothers and an attic full of their father’s possessions. As the two brothers contemplate the choices that have made them the men they have become, they attempt to mend old wounds in this classic American play that eloquently riffs on many of Miller’s trademark themes.
"It's all about choices, and if you value good theater, choose the Aurora's The Price." - Oakland Tribune (read the full review)
"A smart production... compelling and comic!" - San Francisco Chronicle (read the full review)
"It is a breathtaking tale, beautifully wrought." - Contra Costa Times (read the full review)
