Small Tragedy

West Coast Premiere
by Craig Lucas
directed by Kent Nicholson
April 7, 2006 - May 14, 2006
Aurora is excited to present the west coast premiere of Craig Lucas’ Small Tragedy, winner of the OBIE for Best New American Play of 2004. Part Oedipus, part Waiting for Guffman, this backstage comedy by the author of Prelude to a Kiss and Reckless examines how we, in a contemporary world, understand and deal with tragedy. Of the New York premiere, the Village Voice wrote, “Small Tragedy is a play full of interest, intelligence, amusement, and spine-chilling verity…It’s a play to see and ponder, staying with you, in typical Lucas fashion, long after you leave the theatre.”
"Ingeniously written, intelligently staged and irresistibly well-performed." - San Francisco Chronicle (read the full review)
"A chilling delight with rock solid performances and direction." - Contra Costa Times (read the full review)
"Explosive...Electric...Should be a very big hit." - San Jose Mercury News (read the full review)
