Auditions & Submissions

Auditions

The Bay Area Casting Collective leads Aurora's casting process. Please submit yourself to their actor database through their website. Aurora Theatre Company participates in the Theatre Bay Area General Auditions and holds at least two open calls per season for specific shows and roles. The open calls are announced on the Actors' Equity Association website and are open to both union and non-union actors (time permitting). If we are not familiar with your work, the TBA Generals and these open calls are by far the best way to be considered. We do accept unsolicited headshots and resumes from local actors only, but please note that signing up for the open calls through the Bay Area Casting Collective is the best way to ensure your consideration.

Script Submissions

Aurora Theatre Company does not accept unsolicited script submissions. If you would like to submit to Aurora, please be sure your script fits our guidelines (below) and then send an email to literary@auroratheatre.org with "Script Query" in the subject line. In the body of the email, please tell us the title of your script, the number of actors it requires, and a synopsis of no more than about 100 words, along with the script's development and production history and a brief playwright biography. No attachments. You will be contacted if we are interested in reading your script; please do not contact us to ask about your submission status. No phone calls.

Guidelines

  • No more than eight actors
  • At least eighty minutes in length
  • We prefer scripts that provide opportunities for detailed, nuanced acting, with an emphasis on language rather than visual spectacle
